need some caprice info

Hey all, wonderin if you could help me out, im going to the junkyard to go parts scrounging in a few months, and i need to figure out how to tell a L99 4.3L V8 from the 5.7L one. Anything like the VIN digit for the 4.3L or build codes and where to find them, or external differences, that kinda stuff. any help would be greatly appriciated.

I have a 91 caprice iroc (305 tbi) if I can I help in anyway let me know man:)

its ok, i found the info on ebay :) VIN number for the L99 4.3L V8 is the letter "W" time to go a parts pickin :)

P= Lt1

Easy to remember

L99 = W = Weak
LT1 = P = Powerful

so you think the L99 is weak huh i got one that'll smoke an LT1!!!!

I don't smoke many LT1s with my stock L99 but the ricers seriously hate getting pulled by a 2+ ton boat!
