Hello, I have a question, and I dont know if anyone will know what I am talking about, but I am going to try anyway... After I got home from school (a 35 min drive) I turned off my Accord (I installed an APC "Ram" instake just 3 weeks ago) and after the car sat for a couple minites, I heard this "Kerplunk" sound come from the Air intake (at least that is where is sounded like it was comming from) It made a sound that sounded like a brick was being dropped into water. I later went to work and when got back, turned off the car to see if it happend again. This time I heard nothing. Does anyone know what this is? Do I have anyhting to worry about? Am I going Insane?

Thanks a lot for any help!

What is the year of the Accord. Id say it has nothing to do with the air intake. Put the original back on and see if it still does this. If it does than listen, are you sure it the intake not the clutch or cam cover section?
And if it is the intake Id say its those gremlins playing tricks again and if it is. Make sure you dont fill up petrol after midnight and dont get the car wet.:flash:

i actually think i know what you are talking about. MY car has made that sound, but it does it when it kills itself. i have a pretty bad idle, and its made the sound a couple of times mine sounded like it was comming from the crankcase:( i dont know what the heck it is.

Yeah, mine does it if I turn the key off and back to the on position immediately after.

I have never figured it out, but it seems as though (in the that split second) the engine turns off (when the key is switched) and wants to pick up where it left off (when switched back to the 'on' position)...but nothing is there.

I just don't switch the key off and back on anymore.

mine does that all the time!! i turn it off, and it just goes kerplunk and thats it. never figured out what it was. I though maybe it was my transmission in going into park.... somebody told me the engine releases something when it does that. Personally i thought he was on crack cuz it sounds like the motor.

The real problem is having your head under the hood while you turn off the engine :D

I guess you could ask someone to do it for you, but it never makes that sound unless im alone.........................
