What exactly does the distributor itself do? For an 89 DOHC ZC? Cuz ive searched around and I read that there are some with external coils and internal coils, mine is screwed on and it screws to the dizzy and comes out, so im guessin its external??? So what I need to know is besides all the parts that i can buy that go with the dizzy, ICM, coil, rotor, what does the distributor do?

This post is about as fucking stupid as your sig.
Simplified for you, the distributor gets power from the coil, the rotor is connected to the cam and spins, inside the cap are contact points and when the rotor passes by them it makes a complete circuit from the coil though the spark plug. if its under the cap its internal, if its outside of the cap its external, so if you have what appears to be five spark plug wires coming out of your dizzy and one goes to the oil, that is is not inside the cap, its external. If its under the cap and has a contact point that connects with the rotor, its internal.

WTF are you trying to say? Are you talking about the distributor cap? The dizzy is the distributor, its like calling someone named Michael, Mike instead. Its just a shorter version of the name.

sorry i didnt know everyone would struggle with such a simple question, wats the distributor do?...my coil screws into the dizzy"distributor" (not the cap)..and uh just checkin but doesnt the ICM, coil, and rotor go to(connect to) the dizzy?"distributor" simple yet?

The above information is correct. The job of the distributer is to direct the 50,000 volts of the coil through the rotor, to the sparkplug wires, and in turn to the sparkplugs at the correct time.
Yes, you are also correct, all the parts of the dizzy you mentioned (and more!) are crammed under the cap.
