Hello everyone, I just bought my 03 Sunfire a couple months ago, it's my first car. So, I know absolutley nothing about the workings of the car or engine or anything. But I'd definitely like to. I wanna upgrade it, add horsepower, better gas mileage, better lookes, etc...Problem is...I don't even know where to begin. I know that I'd like to start with upgrading the engine...so when I get the looks down, I'll have the power to back it up. So, where do you guys suggest I start?

Ok, so I checked out j-body.org's stickys and other threads...and it's helped. I guess I'll start with a turbocharger and an air intake. I also remember reading something about boost? What exactly is that? Also, any recommendations on certain products you've heard good things about would be appriciated. (I THINK my engine is a 2.2 (not even sure how I'd check that though), automatic) And, if I were to put a turbocharger on...what would I need to do/buy? Could I just buy the turbo and bolt it on and go, or would I need to buy other things so that my car can handle it...orrrr what? Thanks in advance...sorry for all the dumb ?'s...but I'm a complete newb.

I'm not sure about the newer sunfires but on my 98 you lift the hood and on the engine cover it says 2200 that means it's a 2.2L engine yours possibly is too. Also If you want to upgrade your cars I think the J-body forum would be your best bet for your questions and what have you. This forum is pretty much for people with questions when they have car problems. Hope that helps.

ok you have 2.2 ecotec and if you put on a turbo, actually just about anything, you will void your warranty, so you will be screwed, also its just me but i think body kits and wings are absolutly retarded, especially on a front wheel drive car, because the wing does absolutly nothing, i think the only things you can do to it without voiding your warranty are like drop in filters and some cosmetic stuff, not a whole lot, i have to wait 5 more years to do that kind of stuff, unless i can hopefully trade my 04 sunfire in for a nice 05 cobalt SS.
