My 99 chevy silverado automatically locks the doors at 15 miles an hour but doesn't unlock them when its in park. I took it to a dealer and they said that they couldn't do it. Is there a way to turn the auto lock off?

The dealer can do it, but told me it would take an hour and cost $120. I told them where they could stick it. On a 99 I think the only way to get them changed is through a dealership.

Has anyone figured out another way besides paying the dealership? I've got the same problem with my 99.

Anybody had any success turning this off? I tried the ol' 2 times with the ignition with the HIGH BEAMS activated as I found in another post but, that didn't work. Mine lock as soon as I put my foot on the brake to put it into gear then as soon as the brake as released and the vehicle put back into park they unlock...
Just curious as I took it to an Install shop to have an Alarm put in and now the darn Auto Locks are activated they weren't before. Guess I have to phone them and ask them how to turn them off unless, anybody has any other brainy ideas???
PS--- Got to play around in the Snow today with my truck; just through a bunch of weight in the back and out I went. Not too bad though I miss my 4x4.. Oh well only snows about once a year here....
Anyways, if anybody has any ideas about the locks I'm game for anything...:banghead:

Yeah that' doesn't work on 99' models. It actually turns out the new alarm that I purchased has this functioned enabled so all I had to do was disable that function of the alarm.

How the hell did it work on a 99?? I've tried that I guarantee no less than 25 times.

Agrees with Jayson....
I wonder if it only works if it's programmed into the BCM and then that process works to toggle it off and on?
I doubt it though...

That would suck for us then...Even one of the guys at the dealership tried for me, and he told me, either get a new BCM, or get mine reprogrammed for $120...I chose neither.

to stop auto door locks on a '99 silverado :under the dash at the steering column is the interior control module, find the plug labeled brown and on it find the small guage light blue wire (fourth position from the end.cut this wire and clear the ends.problem solved, locks will still work manually but will not auto engage!!!!
