You know the saying, If you have to ask how much... You usually can't afford it. However it took me two previous bikes to realize that nothing compares to a Ducati and the feeling you have while riding one. Everyone looks at you in envy. But that might have been just me. Services are expensive but I don't plan on riding mine as much as I did the R6 so in comparison. They are about the same.. Well at least I like to make myself thing that :)

man if i could afford to buy one, i would. i know i'd be to scared to park it anywhere. at my bike store there is a 998 waiting to be inspected for insurance. someone sat on it and the auto stand came up and when they got off it fell. chassis is slightly misaligned so it might be totalled. not saying this is normal but makes you wonder.

I am alone here, but I think Ducs are ugly, and the dry clutches sound like POOP. But again, I think I'm the only person who feels that way.

Like most Italilan machinary, Ducaties are sleek, sexy, handle great and they are a maintence nightmare.
The valves need set rather frequently. Most Duc owners dont have the ability to set the valves, so there is usualy forced into some down time while the bike sits at the dealer.
My buddy had an oil pressure sensor blow on him (he rides a 998). It took almost three months to get a new one. Basically, he lost a whole riding season waiting on a simple part. Any replacement part is a pain in the ass to get. Even light bulbs...
The other down side of Ducati ownership is other Duc owners. My buddy cant seem to ever get away from the other Duc owners that feel the need to contact him for no other reason other than to talk about how great Ducs are. :screwy:

saturnangerine, fear not, for there are many others who feel the way you do about Ducatis. And Kenedy200, tell your buddy I feel your pain. Since the day I joined the BMW CCA, I get calls on a daily basis of people who just want to get together and talk BMW day in and day out...of course, I like to do that, just not every damn day...
