I just bought a 2000 civic hatchback CX, it was runnung fine about 40 miles per gallon, but then after I either pump 92 gas into my car, and i think i broke the metal piece hanging where you pump your gas into and it probably drop into the gas tank and i dont mean the gas cap it started to burn gas alot, im getting about 20 miles per gallon now. I also tuned up my car to, by changing the oil, i might have put too much oil, i might have tighten the spark plugs and the oil filter too much. Is there any advice for me. I also would like to know if i could get into my gas tank.

I'm not sure losing that blockoff plate will cause bad gas mileage. I don't see any reason for that. I would check for leaky injectors first of all. Also make sure that you gapped the spark plugs properly. It can come back to get you later.

the only thing that might do is block your fuel pump from getting fuel but the pickup is really big so i dont think its that.

yea I'm having a similar problem with mine. I have a 96 civic hatch. I only get prob 21 mile per gallon on that thing but I always figured it was the CAI + headers + tanabe exhaust. I know the headers make my engine light come on for the 02 sensor .. but I never could figure out why my car was running so rich.

The O2 sensor is one of the things that tells the computer to adjust pulse width on the injectors. If the O2 happens to see a lean condition in the exhaust it will make the comp feed more fuel.
Unless you mean that it runs rich to begin with. Then its some other sensor.

definitely a fuel system problem..if lucky..then probably just a bad tuneup

yea it was so bad at oen point i had to replace an 02 sensor. Deffinantly not cool. I think my ecu may be chipped too... butI'm not sure. I've tried ot lean it out. I put a high flow cat on it to see if the secondary 02 would fix it a little bit and I've tried to lower the fuel presure a bit cause I have an adjustible fuel presure regulator. but I only got like 1 ro 2 extra miles per gallon with it. Haha I went from getting about 198 miles ona tank to 220.. ish.
