Help, 97 Civic A/C switch problem

My 97 civic, lx, has an A/C problem. In positions 1 and 2, the A/C won't switch on. In positions 3 & 4 it runs like a champ. Does anyone have a guess at what is wrong and how I can fix it myself?

first off check for loose wires....but it's most likely the a/c switch is bad. if so...check out a local junk yard for the part...
