Hey everyone. I am new to this site, but while looking at the search, I can tell alot of you have some good knowledge on the eclipse RST. I have recently built my RS with Forged pistons and rods because I had turboed it and blew out the ringlands on two pistons. So obviously, I was running too much boost. Everything was rebuilt, got the head ported and polished. Now that everything is back together, I have a problem that I can't figure out.
When first put back together, it ran perfect. Now, if I shift into third gear and get on it, my blow off valve goes off and the car starts to feel like I shifted, but haven't. It is kinda like the feeling of letting off the gas even though I am not. What is it? How can I fix it? Any suggestions?

So it sounds like a problem with your blow off valve or the vacuum hose thats supposed to go to the manifold.

throttle cable adjustment???
and check the hoses are good and in the right places...

What would be wrong with the blow off valve? What would I need to look for to see if something is wrong with it?

Could be leaking, or could be hooked up incorrectly as to cause it to open prematurely. What kind do you have?

I have JDM Blitz Super Sound.

what are you using for a fuel controller and injectors/pump? and how much boost are you running? sounds to me like your maxing out your injectors/pump... doesnt feel anything like fuel cut, it feels as if you let off the gas or the motor died!

I don't have a fuel controller right now but I do have my air/fuel ratio gauge set up. It is always runnig a little rich, but not much. I have 350cc injectors and BBK fuel pump (not sure on the size right now, at work can't look  )
It isn't fuel cut at all because I had that happen really bad before I got the pump.

i know its not fuel cut... but you need a fuel controller, your A/F gauge is worthless in my opinion, what are you using to compensate for the added air that enters the motor? and how much boost are you running?

Right now since the car started acting up, I turned it down to 8 psi. Before when I had no problems with it I was running 15-20 psi.

S-afc2

I bought a S-AFC2 and it had no instructions for an RS.
EclipseRST

what are you using to compensate the MAP sensor so the computer doesnt see so much pressure in the manifold?
also, the S-AFC2 will work on any car!
EDIT: i dont under stand how you ran 15psi with that set up... no fuel controller will put your 350 injectors to stock level cause the computer doesnt see them as bigger so they will only flow the stock 240cc level.

I don't have anything for the MAP sensor. What do I need? And if the S-AFC 2 work on every car, what wires do I need to hook up to make it work?
The car ran a solid 15 - 20 psi, no problem until recently.

well it shouldnt have... you need the S-AFC2 to make it run right, follow the instructions, call apexi if you dont believe me that it will work! they should be able to send you directions to hook it up. i have it on my car and i have had it on there for a little over a year now and it works just fine! the directions should be universal.
oh and what turbo do you have? internal or external wastegate? are you running an intercooler? it seems very strange that your car will run 15-20psi with only a built motor and nothing done to the fuel system ~ i know you said you had bigger injectors, but without a fuel controller the computer thinks the injectors are still stock!

When I bought the S-AFC 2, I called apexi and they told me that they couldn't find any instructions for it. I even asked for the Avenger and Seabring, and still nothing (maybe because I am a girl and shouldn't be into cars :naughty: ). But I guess I could try again and buy it, then call again. The directions that originally came with the unit were for all mitsubishis. Would it affect the instructions at all because I have OBD-1? I noticed when I bought it they were all OBD-2 car years in the instruction manual.
I have a Garrett T-3, Internal wastegate, Starion front mount intercooler. I honestly had no problems with it running 15 psi. I just don't understand now, that at 8 psi it still does what it is doing.
What about the MAP senor thing? What do I need to do there?

no you have OBD-2! unless your car is not a 95 like it says in your profile... they should have the basic wiring diagram, its also known as a neon platform too! the fuel controller with take care of the map sensor

I have 95 and if I am not wrong, didn't 96 and up go to OBD-2? I have been told so many times that my car is OBD-1.
EclipseRST
09-23-2004, 11:42 AM
oh fuck thats right... my bad, i'm thinkin 2g! but depending on when it was made in 95, the late model 95's had the OBD-II. even if it is the OBD-I it will still work, there are a lot of 1st gens that use it.

My car was made in mid 94. It is still a 2g though. Are you sure it will still work because when I was reading the instructions, I remember it saying alot of stuff about OBD-2 (not sure exactly what it said). I was planning on buying a S-AFC1 because I know they work on the OBD-1.
EclipseRST
09-23-2004, 12:20 PM
that will work too.... the only difference is the S-AFC2 has a couple more options, do you have the S-AFC2 still?

RST Eclipse GST: well its pretty much a guys site

RST Eclipse GST: blow me!
yes it is pretty much a guys site, it doesnt mean girls are not welcome, the more the merrier! its just that 99.9% of the members on here are male! so by telling someone that they are female points out that they are different. you did it too!

lmao... dont post if you thought you were starting something! plus it was off topic anyways! postwhore...
but yes i'm not positive on it but i would think that they would make the S-AFC1 and 2 compatable with both OBD1-2 seems kinda stupid if they didnt!

I will save some money up and go buy the S-AFC 2 and see what I can figure out again. I would hope that they are compatable.
Do you also think that any of the previous posts about the throttle cable, blow of valve, etc.. could be a problem also?

i highly doubt its the Throttle cable... or a bov line of any sort... plus i dont see how you are running 15psi on the stock fuel settings!

Jake wants to know what you look like but is too embaressed to ask
"RST Eclipse GST: she's 18 too... i wonder what she looks like LOL ;-)"

Come on guys. First of all, the only reason why I stated I was girl was to make the point apexi gave me the run around and I think it is because I am a girl. Secondly, this is a forum for cars, am I wrong on that one?? It doesn't matter what I look like or any of that shit. Get a life and stop being assholes!! (By the way, what does my age have to do with anything??)

hmmm... does it feel like your car is stalling out? does it keep the RPMs up when it does this?

The R's stay up. It doesn't feel like a stall. It feels like letting off the gas at high R's.

SeXy_MaMaRST

Thats the first thing I checked when it started. The plugs are brand new, the wires brand new, and the coil pack is brand new. Then I tought it was my MSD system ( i have full msd), and I disabled it, but it still does it.
