I hope someone can help.
I have a '99 Jetta Wolfsburg (old body style).
The CD Changer is giving me problems. Sometimes it stops while its playing a CD and the receiver will display "NO DISC." When this happens I cannot get a CD to play. I try ejecting the disc cartridge, etc. A couple days will pass it will work again, and then this error message will once again appear.
Any suggestions? I just want to make sure I not missing something that's an easy fix.
Thanks!

That is one of a few common problems. Some have reported success using a CD optical cleaner disc, basically a CD with little brushes glued on it to clean the laser optics. They are available at office type stores, usually for computers (but they work the same for auto cd players).

I went over to Best Buy and spent $9.99 for a disc cleaner. This made perfect sense since I have never cleaned the system and I owned the car since Nov. '98. I popped it in and had some success for about a 1/2 hour on the way home from work. Then it started to act up again!! I messed with the cable that connects the changer when I got home, and its now been working for a few days. I also tried to remove the receiver from the dash, but I gave up. There were too many plastic pieces to remove and I thought I might damage them. I hope I have corrected the problem?!? Thanks for the advice!!
