Rattle in steering column

Cannot seem to find source of rattle in steering column on 2000 AvalonXL, it is so annoying. I have removed so many dash parts, it seems to eminate from "inside" the steering hub, or the column.
Has anyone else run across this problem, which occurs on any slightly bumpy road? Any suggested solutions?
