exhaust size

I have a '94 Thunderbird LX with a 4.6 liter V8 and I want to buy new mufflers but not sure what size to get. The ones I was looking at were 2 1/4 in and 2 1/4 out would they work or should I get bigger or smaller thanks for any help.

If you can afford it, go with a cat back system of at least 2 1/2, preferably 3 1/2 off the cats dumping into 2 2 1/2 at the Y going to the mufflers. This will allow for more mods in the future without having to buy mufflers twice.
