dont listen to the last guy...thats asking for trouble
wut you have to do is pry on both sides between the half shaft and axel...use a couple big screw drivers or 2 smaller sized pry bars...one on each side of the axel

if your wanting the outer race off of the axel shaft & the inner race off, heres how:
Inner cv joint:
Cut off boot clamps & slide the boot towards the center of the driveaxel,
paint alignment marks on the outer race & the tri-pot bearing assembly,so they can be returned to their orginal position, then slide the outer race off of the tri-pot bearing assembly, remove the snap ring, then mark the relationship of the tri-potbearing assembly to the axelshaft, secure the bearing rollers with tape, then remove the tri-pot bearing assembly from the axelshaft with a brass drift & A (HAMMER),remove the tape, but dont let the rollers fall off & get mixed up,remove the stop-ring,slide the old boot off the driveaxel & throw it away.
Outer cv joint:
the outer joint is sortof like the inner boot, but if your cars equipped with a dymanic damper, paint a location mark on the axelshaft along the outer edge of thedamper,(the side facing the outer CV joint),cut the retaining clamp & the slide the damper off,
hope it helped,good lucc

The inner joints of the axles are not even attached to anything on most cars I have seen. The boot is really all that connects them. Take the clamp off the boot and pull the inner joint, it will come off. The spider gears can be removed from the shaft by removing a retaining ring and just hammer up on the spider and it will slide off.
