Front Suspension squeak in 2000 LE 4cyl

Hey all, I have a squeaking noise when I go over speed bumps or even a rough road. I've isolated the noise to the front suspension. The ride isn't noisy or jarring and I haven't noticed any difference in handling, just squeaking. Does this sound like anything experienced by anyone out there? I'm hesitant to take it in because I don't want to be told I need new struts if it is just something I could grease myself. Lemme know if anyone has any thoughts. Thanx all. :bigthumb:

What the noise is caused by is the rubber insulators at the top and bottom of the coil spring. These need to be replaced, and the squeak will be gone. I used to have this problem in our 99 and I had someone tell me to spray the top and bottom of the coil spring with WD-40 and the squeak would stop, but it only works for a while. So if you're wanting a temporary fix, use lubricant, if not, then replace the insulators.

Another likely possibilty for the source of the squeak is the center bushings for the sway bars. These are cheap and alot easier to replace than the coil spring bushings. Just unbolt the sway bar bushing supports, clean off the sway bar where the bushings sit by buffing with some emory cloth, and then insert the new bushings and supports.

It was actually one of the simpler solutions. When I looked at the rubber insulators under the coil spring I found that they are mashed and a bit out of place. So I used some WD-40 and it helps. Squeaks less over normal roads but I think they will eventually have to be replaced. Thanks all, I appreciate the help!

Yeah, they actually begin to turn sideways after they've begun to deteriorate.

Does anyone know of a good supplier of the Upper and lower insultors. I have cruised the Web to no avail.

You may have to call one to get the bushings.
