I have a 2003 chevy silverado 3/4 ton HD pickup truck. If I let it sit without driving in the garage for a week and go out and start it and put it in reverse to back out. It sits there! If I give it gas, it's as if it slips into reverse. It will gradually start backwards and then go. If I give it too much gas, it will leap into each forward gear as I go down the road. But, if while in the garage (before backing up) if I let it warm up before putting it in reverse gear, it backs up allright? It only has 25,000 miles on it!

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Thanks,
Tuf

Dont shoot me for asking, but have you checkd the fluid level in the tranny. I've had some where if the fluid level is low, it will take a sec or two untill it circulates. It will act as if it's slipping untill then....

Might not hurt to change the fluid and filter already. Isn't it under warranty? If so, take it to the dealer and let it sit overnight and show them whats goin on.

I have had the transmission fluid changed and checked and that part is in good condition. I guess I need to take it in to the dealer and let them check it.

Thanks

While I am talking about my pickup, do you fellas know if it is illegal, or against the manufacturers warranty to have a "computer chip" installed in your pickup?

Thanks,
Tuf

No, its neither illegal, nor against warranty. But if you do take it in, I would un-install it before doing so incase they have to hook the truck up to their computer.
