So by some twist of classifieds fate, I stumbled across a SBR o2 Eliminator Downpipe with o2 dump for $150 shipped (they're $300 new). Seems like a decent price to me, considering it will eliminate the need for an evoIII o2 housing or porting the stock housing (it's a 2.5" DP from the turbo back).
A few questions:
- How hard will this sucker be to install, as opposed to a normal DP?
- What advantages are there going to be in having the external dump (considering that I am going to have a full 2.5" exhaust and probably not go bigger than an evoIII when it comes to turbos).
- How restrictive is the stock o2 housing if I choose to go with a regular DP from somewhere else? What kind of losses will I take if I don't port or upgrade the o2 housing?

The smaller the internal gate, the louder it is. On a 14b, I couldnt stand it and sole my VP external dump O2 housing the very next day. It didnt even affect my boost creep either, which was why I boughtit. In most of DREs sound clips and videos, he has one type or another muffler on that dump. He tried a few different ones IIRC. I would advise against it. An internally dumped version would be preferable.
A regular external gate is a whole different ballgame. Still very loud and rough sounding, but much less irritating. Night and day difference. ;)

Cool, thanks--that's exactly what I was looking for. Good advice, it makes my decision easy. Looks like the downpipe is going to have to wait for another deal to pop up. I hate school...I'm going to sleep.
