Wing install

Im getting ready to install a saleen wing on my hatchback. of i have to fill the holes for the factory wing. my question is i dont just want to fill the holes in .The filler will just crack out after time . Any other suggestions on what to use other than welding a metal plug from the inside and then using filler or is that the best way
