1999 bmw 740i

We were considering purchase of an used 1999 BMW 740i. We wer wondering what the opinion has been on this vehicle, in particular maintenance issues. Have people experienced problems with this year models? More generally, comments about maintenance costs are welcome.

I used to have 728i. I must say everything is more expensive in case of maintnance. It's a big car with parts needed to hold this 2 tons together.
I don't know if it's the same with 740 but because of the mass of the car the brakes have very short life (comparing to the Z3 I have now). I don't say BMW have bad brakes. Not at all - BMW's have the best brakes on this planet but 7 series... it's simply big.
Also in the rear suspention there may be some problems. Again - it's a big car with big mass. Check it out and then everything should be OK.
