ok i asked about this once but it didnt work. i have a 94 thunderbird lx and the power window on the drivers side and it cathchs somethimes and i can grab it and pull it up and down i talked to somebody that used to work for ford and they said either the regulator is bad or the cable broke. I looked around and found a ford dealer and i think its about 200 to have them fix it. so does anybody have an idea what is bad. and if so how do i fix it thanks in advance

That dude left out the most probable option. There is a little case with three little plastic egg-looking bearings in it. One of those is probably broken. Happens all the time in many types of cars. I replaced the broken one in my 86 Bird with a 1/4" nut.

I have a similar situation in my bird right now, but this one requires a good karate chop to the door panel while holding the window up/down button.

Here's an odd one, its been about 6 months since ive had the gears replaced in the automatic window system, these gears frequently go bad causing the window not to move. But, after 6 months, my passenger window moves DRAMATICALLY slower than the drivers side..im stumped, any suggestions?

Go to autozone and get a new window lift motor. Take off your door panel, unscrew and unplug the speaker. Stick your hand in through the speaker hole, grab the motor. Take out the three 8mm bolts on the front of the door, and pull the motor out through the speaker hole, unplug it, replace, bolt it in, plug it in, put on door panel, now you have a working window. Its a 5 minute job.

the motor still runs so why replace it?

Go here: www.windowmotorstexas.com. They should have the gears to fix your motor. And what cable is the mechanic talking about? I've never heard of such an animal.

I've had my Bird for 3 years, and recently I've noticed the same problem. The Passenger side window is slower, and makes a slight murrrrrrr sound when you lower it slightly. *bump*

Just cuz the motor runs doesn't mean it isn't weak and worn out. Both times I've changed mine they still ran, just slow, or not enough strenth to move the window very far, but when you took them out of the door they run fine.

speaking of windows, sometimes mine get "stuck" right at the very top when I am trying to close them. They still move up and down but its like they are getting blocked right at the top, so I have to roll em up and down until the window decides to shut all the way. Not a big problem and not very frequent, but I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and knows how to fix it.

Are you driving on the highway or is this happening while sitting still or at lower city speeds?

i drive both for the most part because the new city cop / dot officer is a a**hole so i dive the low speeds when he is a round and highway speeds because i live in a small town so if i want anything i have to drive a half hour to get it. so both bascally

Our birds have an inherent problem when driving at highway speeds and having a cross wind. The air pressure will suck one window out a bit and cause it not to close all of the way. I have had to roll down the opposite window to relieve that pressure to get the window up and then close the opposite window. This is why I ask.
