2000 silverado keyless entry

hi i just bought a 2000 silverado ls , the dealer didnt have the remotes so i bought them and they said they cant program them they tried tech2 also says its inactive in the glove box it has the rpo for keyless entry any help would be great they looked up the remotes by the vin# could the reciever not be installed ?

Do you have the programming instructions? Have you tried to program them yourself? If you need the instructions I have them for you.

1. Start with ignition off.
2. Press and hold unlock button on drivers door, the locks will cycle once.
3. Turn ignition on-off-on-off.
4. Release unlock button, the locks will cycle once.
5. Hold down lock and unlock keys on keyfob transmitter until locks cycle (about 15 seconds).
6. Repeat step 5. for remaining keyfobs (up to 4 total)
7. Turn ignition on to exit the programming mode. Programming is now complete
On step 5 you have to hold down the unlock and lock buttons on the remote at the same time till you see the doors lock then it will be complete.........
I just reprogramed my 99 xcab remote with this procedure and it worked

Can I reprogram a remote from my 2004 Nissan Frontier to work with my new 2005 Silverado? I tried the method mentioned, but it didn't work; perhaps I did it wrong.

You think that would work for the '02? I have an extra remote the dealer gave me when I purchased the truck, and no one seemed to know how to program it to work for my truck.

That's really awesome. Like I said, the dealer gave me an extra remote with my purchase, and the the usual circle jerk ensued; nobody there could figure out how to program it. So, I had in my possession a useless remote for my '02. Those directions were right on the money. Thanks so much!

I printed a copy of those directions that will remain in my glovebox

I tried those instructions and they didnt work. What I did is turn the key on-off-on-off and then held the un-lock button on the driver door until they cycled. Then hold down the lock and un-lock buttons on the remote until the locks cycle again. If you have another remote do it now also by holding down the locl and un-lock buttons. turn they key to the "on" position to exit programming stage.

Worked perfect on my 2005 2500 HD! Thanks
