Ok... this may be a kind of odd thread, but I need to know if you guys know any good algebra, algebra 2, and algebra 3 tutorial pages. I am in algebra 2 and I missed some school and the book doesn't explain crap. So it would be helpful if you could provide me with some sites. :licker:

Yeah, Seriously. Fritz is our resident Maths guru. (well compared to most of us), and should be able to help you out with most of your problems.

89 DX-R is also a maths major I believe.

Just typing in "algebra tutorial" on google.com gives tons of hits - but I have no idea if any of them are any good or not. You might try poking around some though. If you're really stuck on a single concept, I'll do my best to try to help you with it, send me a PM or email. But the best thing I can recommend is a book:

"Algebra Unplugged" by Kenn Amdahl and Jim Loats

It's an algebra book that is actually funny sometimes. :D (Despite the idiotic cover) And it really teaches algebra in the way that it is useful as opposed to the silly equation-regurgitation method that you're generally taught in high-school. I've used it in tutoring with great success.

One warning - this may get you into a bit of trouble if you have an idiot or hard-ass for a teacher. There are often many different ways to solve one problem, and "unplugged" will probably show you the easy way, rather than the way your teacher may demand. IMHO, a good teacher will complement you on finding the easy way and help you with it!

The other book I can highly recommend is "The Realm of Algebra" by Isaac Asimov (yes, the famous science fiction writer). It's not a textbook or a workbook, it's quite short and it just explains all the basic principles in plain english - it's quite amazing. Unfortunately, I think it's out of print now, so you might have trouble finding it. Try your local library.

Good luck!

as a student, i'm sure you know about www.SparkNotes.com

yes, they do math

Then again, why not just ask one of us? (assuming your teacher is bad enough that you even brought it up here)

Thanks everyone, the sites are a real big help. Unfortunately I already took the Chapter test today... before I could get around to checking my e-mail. What sucked is that I stayed up so late last night learning and studying that I was really tired and out-of-it when I took the test. But I still need to learn the stuff, so I will still be using the sites.
I don't know if I failed or not, but I didn't do too well. This sucks, I plan on being a Civil Engineer and taking Cal I, II, and III yet can't pass a stupid Algebra II test :(
I am a visual learner and missed the day that they went over the first lessons, which the whole chapter built upon. I hope I can still maintain my "A" in that class.

P.s. I'll post up the score I recieved on monday, but it may not be pretty.

what is it specifically that you don't understand?

Some of the rational exponent stuff. I understood about half of it, but when i took the test I wen t totally blank. I still don't undertand some of the harder stuff, and that is what I am going to use the tutorial sites for :p

I didn't mean anything by what I said. I was agreeing.

Just thought I would clear things up, or maybe I am the one confused
