92 Loyale egr problem

I have been getting a check engine light off and on for a while. When I got underneath and counted the pulses it came out to be a problem with the egr temp. sensor or circuit. It only bothers on startup. Once the engine warms up it will run fine, and it stutters when cold. MY question is where is this alleged egr temp sensor? I can see a few electronic sensors on top of the engine , but, I am not sure which one it is?? I am thinking about buying a cd manual on E-bay and that should show it in there, but, in the meantime anybody have any ideas?? Thanx, Toni.

Well I haven't had any replies on this so I'll update it myself for anyone who has this problem in the future.
Like I said in the original post the MIL was flashing a 55, which would indicate the egr temp. sensor or circuit. It turns out the only cars with California emissions have this and my Subaru doesn't. In fact I ordered the part and they got it in and I couldn't find it anywhere on the engine so I guess that holds true.
Of course I'm still getting pretty much the same problem, in fact the guy at the auto parts store is having the same problem with his Subaru and is trying to figure his out also, quite a coincidence.
What I'm looking at now is to go to a shop with the diagnostics tool and see if they can glean more than what I have from it. Hopefully they can come up with a better answer than I have. Toni.

Well I thought I'd close this chapter with the results of the alleged EGR valve problem.
After taking the car to two garages, including a reputable Subaru dealer,the problem ended up being the fuel injection coolant thermosensor. I guess what was happening was that it was telling the computer that the engine was warmed up when it was still cold and it wasn't enriching the fuel mixture as it should have been.
I kind of figured that it had something to do with a temperature sensor of some sort because after it warmed up a little it was fine.
As far as the code 55, i guess it is called a phantom code. THe ECU can tell something is wrong, but, it isn't sure just what it is.
Seems odd that the Subaru dealer didn't have a clue what was wrong. Maybe where it was an old car they didn't want to bother with it, hoping I'd get frustrated with it and trade it for a newer model??

yeah the coolant temp sensor was the right one.
