Okay... my brother says that he is going to make a GSX AWD Turbo drift on gravel... he says that all he needs is about 350hp... is this possible? And do AWD cars have 2 lsd's? thanx

whoa? what? there's 3 differentials in a GSX? bcuz, i was thinkin, if i had just put a rear LSD onto the GSX, i could possibly drift? well, im not a big LSD person, but i would like to know and learn more about the GSX LSD and do the GSX's have 3 differentials. Oh yeah, i think Friday86 was talkin about cement, not gravel,, so is it possible to drift in cement with a 350 hp (at the wheels) with a GSX?

adjust the transfer case maybe to put more % of the hp on the back wheels and i bet it would drift fine

I don't care what you do to ruin your GSX, it will never "drift" as good as a DRIFT CAR. Don't get AWD if you fancy losing control. Sounds pretty straight forward to me. 240sx.

nothing wrong with using tires up .besides its not like u dont eat tires up taking it down the 1/4 mile and warming them up. ill just say drifting them off is much more fun. agreed its harder to drift awd, but still quite possible. personally im hoping to go the 240 route, rwd is the serious way. if i can ever sell my eclipse.

This is as stupid as it is possible.

Drifting on gravel/dirt/snow can be done in almost any car. Not only do you not need 350 hp but you had better be a damn good driver and very familiar with dirt to keep yourself out of the trees. A gsx stock has more than enough horsepower to drift. As to all those these days who think drifting is limited to 400 plus horsepower supras sliding around on pavement you are forgetting the roots of drifting. As you learn your car you will see how changing diff, suspension, tires, power band, and many other things will help or hurt the handling characteristics. It's not like by putting a LSD in your car it will magicly be able to drift. It is already able to drift and the RIGHT LSD will improve the the characteristics. I think the gsx drifts pretty nice stock, it has a little more understeer than I would like. It's also not as quick or nimble as a Lancer or CRX but many people rally both the AWD and FWD DSMs
If you want to get into sliding on dirt or gravel check out the SCCA, also look for rallycrosses in your area. You will have fun and there will be people who can help you with techniques and car setup. In dirt driving horsepower is one of the last things you focus on.
