HELP ! I have a 1997 chevy 1500 Z71 that will not start. I noticed it had wanted to stall on me a wile back the it was getting harder to start. yesterday it just stalled on me out on the inter state and i got it to start again after about 15 minutes. once i got to work and cut it off it would not fire up again but if i hit it with some starting fulid it would fire up. then after a while it would quit. i am in the prosses of replaceing the fuel pump , sending unit ,distributer cap , button. do yall think this is going to fix it. plus i noticed that the fuel pump did not want to kick on till the ignition key was all the way forward just befor you were to bump the motor over. any help would be good on this subject.

Most likely the fuel pump will solve your problem. Use only an AC/Delco pump !!

still no go on this truck after i put a new pump and sending unit into it. got fuel to the motor and spark to the plugs but it will not stay running unless you use starting fluid then it will run for about 10 minutes and cut out. think maybe i have a bad pump from the store ?

autozone will loan you a pressure tester. There should be a fitting on the fuel rail somewhere, but I don't know for sure. Are you getting any SES lights or anything like that?

This may be a stupid question but did you replace inline fuel filter, thats what ruined my fuel pump, I didn't know there was one until it was too late.
