i have a 98 3000Gt SL with the stock inifiti system, and i really like bass. The speakers, when you turn up the bass dont actually sound too bad, but i think the sub would add the extra power im looking for. Also my car rattles like crap (the interior) when the bass is up. Just wondering if any of you have had the same problem. Do you think the Stock Infiniti system is enough, or should i go with the sub and get more bass? (im 16 by the way) ;)

I am going to purchase 2 Kicker L7 12" subs (the new 2004 ones) and a hifonics bx 1500D. The bass will be unbelievable, especially since we have hatchbacks :)

I think subs would be great, but my performance, and trunk space are more important priorities at this point...but bass is like hp...you can never have too much

I have 2 Alpine Type-R12's and there pretty good.. but the thing about subs is that if theres anything in u car that can rattle.. it will... it took me bout 2 weeks of having my subs in so that i could find all the squeeks an rattles in my car... the main one was the jack in the trunk... but after bassin for a while some of the little rattles just kinda went away :) .. also i have my subs in a box in the hatch. and they point up to the window... it sounds great inside the car... on the outside it sounds great from the sides and the front.. but if u stand behind it u can barely hear the bass... only thing u hear is rattles

Sound Proof it, as in line the whole car with sound deadening mat :P That's what my brother did on his 240sx, sounds very nice, also your box is sound deadend right?

sound deaden namely the hatch part. you can get dynomat (expensive) or non-name brand stuff (same exact) for much cheaper. there is even a spray on version.

i have a setup of 2 10' pioneers with an audiobahn amp bolted to a backseat. Bass has been an everyday part of my life for months now, if you want bass, you want subs.

you don't soundproof it to make it so the sound is all inside and you can't hear the ouside....maybe the better word to use is "sound deaden" it makes it so the hatch won't rattle so when you do drive by bumping it sounds GOOD and not like crap.

1 12 inch sub is all the power you need to bass up your car. I used to have 1 12 inch infinity sub, you could hold up a napkin in the car and watch the napkin rattle around from the sound waves. I sold the set up thought cause i didnt want bass anymore and it was just weighting down the car.

I forgot to mention. If you are going to put a system in, I'd suggest getting a larger alternator. Our stock alternators don't seem to have enough power to really give u a good bass showing. However, if your not into showing it off some, then the stock alternator will be fine, but ur headlights will dim when idle at a stoplight. I know from 99 sl and my 98 vr4 seems like it'll have the same problem because if i hold my buttons for my two windows I can see the power draining from my dash a little. The light seems to fade slightly, but it's enough to tell that the alternator is weak.

That seems to me like a weak battery, i can crank mine as far up as it will go and the headlights wont dim.. just the interior lights a lil bit.. but i have a yellow top optima battery and i can crank it up for over an hour with the car not runnin and the batttery wont die... but i have soo much bass in my car that my rear view mirrow turn up ad down... plus my side view mirrors will do the same :) .. but how would one soundproof one of these cars??

i have 2 10's and a 300watts pushing each. its pretty loud, especially with our cars. but ireally dont think you need 1000 watts to push 2 tens.
