I just picked up an 82 s10 for free. Has a 2.8l that hasnt had an oil change since 1999. Anyways, we were looking into swapping the enigne for a 4.3l vortec out of a 93 blazer. Before we do this i was wondering if there are any places out there that sell performance products for this engine. Ive been searching and i havent had any luck. Im interested in cam, pistons, intake, heads, and i was also wondering if there was any places that sell turbos or supercharger kits for this engine. Just wondering...let me know what you know.

i havent been able to find anything. I was thinking about puting a performance chip in it also. Were swapping the dash, the computer and just about everything else so im thinking wed be able to chip it. But i want to get as much hp out of that 4.3 as i can while still keeping it as a reliable daily driver for college

You can get cams etc for it but your are shit out of luck if you want a supercharger or turbo kit.

Those will have to be custom fabbed.

none of the turbo parts that were used on the sy/ty would work for it?

you should put it on the bottle. it will give you more power than the supercharger and won't hurt your pocket book as much (initially). NOS, Venom, Edelbrock, Zex all should have something for you. Of couse nitrous is not always on so you only have intermittent power boost, but it does have a high "cool" factor with the college ladys (or guys which ever you prefer). Also, nitros costs $20 a bottle where im at.

yeah personally i dont like "nos" and think is for ricers. I would mind using it for that extra boost that cant be obtained by most anything else at a reasonable cost. i would also rather have that power available to me all the time at a one time fee also.

p.s. i dont do this for the "cool" factor

i would rather have all engine also but when it comes to a v6 there isnt much all engine you can do for hp. hence me asking about a turbo

Comp Cams as well as Crane Cams makes excellent roller/rocker cam and crank kits for the 4.3 Vortecs, most especially pre-98 4.3's. I've had much success with Crane Cams, only went with them for sponsorship reasons, but I've definately gotten my share of fun out of it. after that, it's all easy. Intake and exhaust upgrades with a wee-bit of weight reduction, and those things scream.

Sorry SpeedDemon, nitrous is not for 4-bangers. It's sad to think somone would spend so much money on a motor only to have the power of the 305 in my pick-up. I don't want to start a big discussion on how "Fast and Furious" has digraced some of us balls to the wall V8 loving hotroders, but I'm sure that is how old-school hotroders felt when "American Graffiti" debuted. On second thought, I doubt it.

i didnt say that they were just for 4 bangers as i said "I would mind using it for that extra boost that cant be obtained by most anything else at a reasonable cost." But i meant **wouldnt mind** and that id prefer all engine. Personally i believe the term "nos" is for ricers and 4bangers. But i dont have a problem with nitrous.

dude there are parts everywere you just have to know were to look, go to jet performance for a chip and then go to edlbrach or comp cams for parts for the motor, but if u truly want a great powerfull motor get a 91 syclone motor
