i have a 350 going in my 74 camaro and i have stock heads. they were redone. the block is .30, flat top pistons, stock crank ( that was redone as well) i had my friend send this to his buddy. i dont even know what i have. all i know is that i got F**KED. my question is , will the stock heads be ok.? i really dont have th money to go and get after market ones, but with everything i did so far, i dont want to screw everything up.

maybe i can put them through the window of my mustang. lol. so 350 vortech heads you say. ill look into them. jegs has them for $259. say you need to use them with vortec style intake manifold. i have a edelbrock rpm proformer intake. will it work with that? do i have to use longer pushrods for the vortec heads? what about stock rocker arms? thanks for your help

Just helped a friend rebuild a '71 350 for his '84 firebird. We used stock heads on his. Performer RPM intake, Performer RPM cam, Performer 750cfm carb. Still fouling plugs, need to play with the calibration kit a little more. But yes to answere your question your stock heads will be fine. You can use stock length pushrods, and stock ratio rockers (1.5). But if you upgrade your cam you should upgrade your springs. Also just incase you didnt know, the cam and crank both time facing up. Went thrue hell trying to time his cam lol. Long story lol, lotta beer, forgot... lmao.

your stock heads will be fine, they will limit power conciderably, but will not effect how the engine runs. the vortec heads are 256 each, totalling 512, still cheap for a set of heads. if money is SUPER tight, you can also find these heads at the junkyard. any 96-2000 CK truck from Chevy or GMC will have them. pull a valve cover and look at the casting number on the heads, you want the heads with a number ending in 062. you can also have these heads modified to accept standard bolt patterns, or modify the intake to match the heads. the limit on the heads is that they wont accept more than something like .470 lift. maybe a little less than that. so they would have to be machined for more clearance. but if youre running a mild cam with less lift than that, youll be fine, and wont have to change a thing except the bolt angles. or buy an intake.
