I have a Extended Warranty but I dont know the specifics and I dont want to ask the BMW dealer, How can I find out?, without asking them what the extended warranty entails. Here is the reason I have not asked them. I purchased my car from a dealer NOT BMW and was never told about a warranty and the dealer I bought it from doesnt know anything about it either. Are they transferrable? I dropped my car off at the Dealer, for the 2nd time and the warranty works so I am using it. He is using my exact VIN also so there is NO mix up. but I dont know if he thinks I bought the warranty or not. I have 79950mi on my car.
Please Help
Thank You

Hi kbrown528I:

...About the question who is your extended warranty with, and is it transferable or not? I live in Georgia, and I just purchased an extended warranty plan for my 530i. When I asked the question about purchasing a "BMW" factory extended warranty plan to the credit salesman, he kind of laugh and said: At this time BMW does not offer an extended warranty plan just the 4yr/50,000 mile factory warranty and BMW full service plan, but there are some other companies that do, and the one they use is the one that pays their shop time and their mechanics/techs time at the time when the warranty work is performed. The extended warranty companies name is: Fidelity Extended Protection Plan.

Of course one of my question was well if I sell my BMW, is the extended warranty owner transferable? He said it is for a $25.00 transfer fee, and he said you will find most extended warranties that are honored by their BMW dealership not only pays them quickly by credit card them funds at the time of their service directly, but most plans are owner transferable, and the transfer fee ranges anywhere from $25.00, $50.00 and up?

I wish I knew the answer to your question, but I do not, I just gave you what a BMW salesmen told me about my ETW plan and what most other extended warranty plans does for their customers.

Because your BMW dealer is using the extended warranty by the VIN number it must be one they recognize at that dealership, that must mean it is good, but I would try to continue to find out who it is with, and do the honorable thing as you are trying to do now, and pay their little transfer fee, and get in your name, before something major happens, and they might find a loop hole and stop covering it $$$! :banghead:

***Maybe another member here at the forum will see this posting and will be able to give you his expert BMW advice.

. . . I just thought of something that might work? It is kind of a long shot, but do you know the name of the former BMW owner? If not, have you got access to CarFax?
If not: Click on: http://www.carfax.com/cfm/general_check.cfm?partner=aol_x (http://www.carfax.com/cfm/general_check.cfm?partner=aol_x)

Because if you do have access or decide to purchase the CarFax plan, when you enter your VIN number the CarFax system large nationwide DMV database, it will give you the full former ownership history (s) name and address, (es). A list of any problem (s) your BMW might have had. It will give you mileage check points that is good to check for "Odometer Fraud"., If your BMW has been involved in any major car accidents, etc. Going this CarFax route you can get his/her name and could look him/her up, and go from that stand point. (If I bought a preowned BMW or any preowned vehicle, personally with such a wise investment as a BMW, I would pay the small $24.99 for unlimited use for one month usage to find out a detailed report on my BMW investment, and run my family, girlfriends, car VIN and give them a copy of theirs for free. Or if I am too cheap, or mad at my parents or girlfriend, I would pay the $19.99 for the one time vehicle check.

The only other thing I would do is contact the salesman who sold you the Bimmer at the dealership, and insist on getting information for the extended warranty. If the dealer obtained it from an individual on trade, the dealer should have atleast the former owners name on file, so you can obtain it, and make contact with him or her, and then should be able to obtain the extended warranty protection plan name, etc. Once you get the name of the company you can go to the web (WWW) to look their website up and either call or email them about transfer cost and further information about your warranty. :icesangel

In conclusion: KBrown528I, I do wish you the best in getting your extended warranty transferred over to your name, and in the meantime just enjoy your BMW investment!!!! :bigthumb:

Sincerely,

Presley348 :smokin:
