hey all,

im in need of some help... i have a 96 trans am.

i just bought it used (86K), and there's only one thing i can't figure out.

i was going through all the odds n' ends i need to bring the car into tip top shape... but...

when the car idles, the rpms "bounce"

it's not constant, but it happens often enough. the car revs, then relaxs, and so on...

i havent notice anything unusual when driving, though it does feel like the car is holding back a little.

any idea what this is? need more info?

please help, ive been in the garage all day trying to figure this out, just cant...

I know of a few things that can cause that...

#1, replace your EGR valve if you have not done so

#2, replace your pcv valve

#3, blast your throttle body with throttle body spray cleaner with the engine running, and open the butterflies just a little as you do it (dont use carb cleaner unless its marked safe for throttle bodies)

#4 - Clean your IAC

thanks again!
