What type of RC Car...

I want to put a dicast car body onto a RC car, but I need to know what type (size, brand) would let me do this. I believe the dicast cars are 1:18 size. It hsouldn't be super hard, but it would be sweet to have a 1969 Camaro Pace Car RC Car :naughty:

HPI's Micro RS4 is 1/18 but the dicast body will be too heavy and might not allow the car to move, thus burning out the motor. If you have, or scratch build, one out of plastic...that might work better.

diecast are more of the size of 1/24-1/28, like a kyosho mini-z, i've put a couple of plastic models on mine, but no metal, metal would make the car way to sluggish

I agree that metal is too heavy for rc cars in either scale, 1/18 or 1/24. Also, I don't think its going to be as easy as dropping a 1/18 diecast body on a 1/18 rc chassis becuase the width and wheel base may not be the same. Even if the are, you'll still need to figure out how to mount it.

If you looking for acurately scaled rc cars, I'd go with 1/24 scale rc with plastic model bodies. For this the Kawada Tripmate would be the ideal rc chassis. The Tripmates width and wheelbase are adjustable allowing you to use just about any 1/28 - 1/24 plastic body. To top it off, it one of the best sub 1/18 rc cars out there.

get a metal model and mold it with lexan and you might have to widen or lengthen the body top fit the car
