whats wrong with it
there are times when it'll start, then other times it won't.it turns over but that's it.it does it every so often.like it has a mind of it's own.i changed the fuel relay switch.tuned it up.tried the gas cap(someone told me it could be vapor lock due to bad gas cap..that's not it.)i'm really stumped with this one.have any idea's?
thanks,
mary

It is probably caused by a sticky idle air control valve that can cause hard starting. Sticky idle air control valves usually cause failure to start at all or stalling after lots of cranking.

where is that located on my truck?

It's mounted on your throttle body. It creates an air passage around the throttle plate. It should have a wire harness connector and two bolts. Cleaning is a short term fix but your best bet is to replace it.

yea it should fix it but just to make sure id take it to a ford dealer they would be able to look those types of things up because that seems to be a common problem with 95-96 ranger
