Upgrade some ignition components...yah or nay?

I was thinking about the MSD blaster ss coil, msd dist. cap/rotor and 8.8 wires. I already run ngk plugs. So would there be any real benefit from this upgrade or is it a waste of money?

If you need them, I would get premium wires, rotor, etc. In fact, I prefer a cap and rotor with BRASS contacts; not aluminum. They have superior corrosion resistance.
As to the coil, the HEI is really a great ignition. With a stock or slightly modified engine, you will not see any improvement in performance.
A "hotter" coil produces more potential voltage by inceased amperage. This increased amperage causes the ignition module to work harder and run hotter. In my humble (not really) opinion, I would worry about increasing the risk of module failure.
For what it's worth,

the MSD gm hei coil is fuckin sweet. Maybe you won't notice a performance increase but I sure did.
