Common 740/50 Problems??

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a late 90's 740iL or 750iL with around 100k. I am curious of any common problems I can expect or things to look for.

For those of you who drive these beautiful vehicles, what are your impressions? What do you like? What do you hate?

from what Ive worked on in the 750's there a pain in the ass and expensive as hell. The V12 isnt the best BMW engine out there to work on (or to pay someone to work on it) but when its running correctly its smooth as glass and very nice. Ofcourse the 740's and 750's have minor differences, engine, creature coumforts, a bunch of stuff that really isnt all that great. Power rear seats, ect. The 750 was created with more of the you getting shoufored(sp?) around by some one else. Theres more room in the back seat. If I had to choose over a 740 or a 750 I would have to take the 740 because its cheaper to fix when a problem comes around and why have all these passanger options when your the driver?

Problems with most 7 series, over heating, power stering, alota electrical(expecicaly phones).

If I could take any car out of the BMW line up it would be a 03 528 with the sport package. Dark grey with the carmal interior.

I recommend you spend a few moments perusing the 5 and 7 Series forums of the recent past. There's much to learn here...........I hope.
