Any tranny experts out there, I am attempting to move a 86 CVPI 5.8L transmision into a 89 CVLX with a 5.0 EFI. Are there any differences in the torque converter, such as counter weights? And are there any other concerns that I should have to worry about. thanks

No concerns. Keep the 302 flexplate with the 302, and bolt the 351 AOD up. One thing that you will notice is that the 351 AOD shift pattern is 2-D-O/D instead of 1-D-O/D

Dear Mercracer, How much trouble to change the shifter and valvebody on an AOD? My '89 GM fryed and I picked up a '87 CV aod. but the shifters are different best ideas? The auto recyclers are looking for an '88 or '89 should I wait? Thanks David

Its not real hard, I changed the shifter from an 86 to work on my 91. BTW it's a lot eaisier to do it when the trans is out, not like I did with the trans in the car.
