Test drive question...

I know I'm gonna get heat from y'all, but please hear me out...
After hearing all the positive reviews, I decided to seriously consider purchasing a used one. It was respectable but not worth the $34K asking price.
The clutch is side-step only, and it rides like crap on the freeway. The salesman wanted me to take it up to 100 (which i thought was cool - usually they are dicks about speed), but it was too shaky/bumpy to go above 88.
My question is: is this normal? The car had 5K miles on it, so maybe the clutch was wasted already? Maybe the spring spacers were still in? Should I test a new one before writing it off? Help!

i dont know why it was like that to go above 88. I doubt the clutch is wasted after 5,000 miles. By all means it could be but that wouldnt make it bounce. Maybe the car just needs an alignment...i dunno.

You definitely should drive a new one. All those demo cars have been wasted. All the salespeople probaly try launching from 8K RPM themselves.
I have no trouble on the highway at 100 mph.

This S was one year old, yet the sticker price was only a thousand less than a new one. I wouldn't have even looked at it, but they said it has the remainder of the factory warranty, plus a seven year certified Honda warranty (which is useless if its beat to sh*t). I think it was BTS because after 5K miles the steering wheel was worn down at the 2 & 10 o'clock positions.
Does anyone live in the Long Beach CA (or the general So Cal area) and recommend a dealer?
What I did like about the S2000:
Power top.
VERY comfortable seats.
Digital dash with HUGE bar tachometer.
Excellent performance for a stock car.
Rear wheel drive.
