93 Suburban, 4-wheel drive.
Took a trip @ about 300 miles. Smelled sulpher and "service engine soon" light was on. Then @ 5 miles from home transmission slips. No reverse no forward gears worked. Put in 4-wheel drive and went 5 feet until it slipped, as if, in neutral. While waiting for tow truck I started the sub and transmission worked fine for 3 miles then the same occured???
Help Please!!

run the suburban on drive for a few days , not over drive, this will uncloge the tranny valves, the same happened to mine's, and that fixed the problem.

Thanks, It worked. I also added a quart trans x.
Had tranny serviced and found sludge on the bottom and filter stoped up. Serviced and trans x but still sliping. RUN in drive and cleared it up.
No more slip. Thanks

the sludge in the pan is clutch material,,, the reason it works in D3 is
because the overrun clutch is applied helping the burnt clutch apply!!!!
tranny-in-a-can aint going to fix it,,,,,,,,,figure it's buying you some time
from walking,,,,,,start saving your pennys,,,your gonna need em!!!!
