aftermarket remote starter

i have a 2000 explorer i want to add a after market remote sarter can sum1 please give me the wiring colours /// the truck also has power doorlocks .and do i have to purchase the autotheft bypass kit ?and what about the new remotes are they comptaible.... greatly appreciated

12 VOLTS CONSTANT/YELLOW (X2)/IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

IGNITION 1/ RED/GREEN (+)/IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

IGNITION 2/ BLACK/GREEN (+)/IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

ACCESSORY/HEATER BLOWER/BROWN (X2)(+) Must use Both /IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

STARTER/RED/LIGHT BLUE (+)/IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

PARKING LIGHTS (+)/ BROWN or WHITE/BLACK/ at HEAD LIGHT SWITCH or in DRIVERS KICK PANEL

DOME LIGHT/ For the Dome Light Supervision or for an Alarms door pin trigger use these wires. For the DRIVERS DOOR use the YELLOW/BLACK (-) in the drivers door harness, for the DRIVERS REAR DOOR use the LIGHT GREEN/YELLOW (-) located in the drivers kick panel. In the PASSENGERS KICK PANEL use the GRAY/RED (-) for the PASSENGERS DOOR and for the PASSENGERS REAR DOOR use the PINK/LIGHT BLUE (-) all of these wires are (-) Negative triggers and MUST BE DIODE ISOLATED when connecting to an alarm system. For DOME LIGHT SUPERVISION just use the DRIVERS DOOR YELLOW/BLACK (-).

POWER DOOR LOCK/ PINK/YELLOW /located in DRIVERS KICK PANEL (TYPE "C") DRIVERS SWITCH is the MASTER SWITCH : If the vehicle IS EQUIPPED with FACTORY KEYLESS ENTRY the door locking system is a TYPE "B" use the same color wires, but these wire will be of small gauge wire than the door lock motor wires of the same color. The KEYLESS ENTRY Module is located in the LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL. Without FACTORY KEYLESS ENTRY it is a TYPE "C" system.

TACH SENSOR/ TAN/YELLOW /at the PCM, located at the TOP of the FIREWALL, passengers side. This wire can also be found at the back of the Instrument cluster.

BRAKE/LIGHT GREEN (+)/ at SWITCH on BRAKE PEDAL BRACKET

HORN/YELLOW/LIGHT GREEN (+)/ in STEERING COLUMN HARNESS

FACTORY DISARM/ DARK GREEN/PURPLE / in the DRIVERS KICK PANEL, harness coming from the drivers door.

FACTORY ANTI-THEFT/ TRANSPONDER (Ford's SecuriLock) Most models 98 and up./ Requires part #791 bypass module and extra ignition key.

Hope this helps. The install can end up a bit lengthy but take your time and don't get mad if it doesn't work the first time.

I am interested in having a Ford Remote Starter installed on my 2003 Ford Explorer. I have some concerns. One being that on my current key fob, there are 4 buttons, a lock button, unlock button, panic button and rear hatch release button. I see on Ford accessory web page, that the new key fobs that come with the remote starter system only have lock, unlock, panic and remote start buttons on them. I wonder if I would loose the ability to open the rear hatch remotely if I have this installed?? Also, my vehicle is equipped with some sort of alarm and keyless entry. It seems redundant to have to buy the most expensive remote starter kit. Do I only need to buy the one that has the remote start only or not? I would appreciate any help with this.

Depending on the RS unit you pick and the installer, you shouldn't have to lose anything you talk about. If you want to save some money but are stuck on the Ford unit, goto any dealer that sells CodeAlarm. They are the company that has teamed up with Ford. If you want a better unit for the money, look at the Valet 562t from DEI. If you need more than 500' range, look into something like Python's 1400xp which has a solid 1000'. They also have one that has a 2way remote that can do more than that. You can find a local dealer at www.directed.com Oh, they also have a 561t that patches into your keyless entry you have now but range will be real short.

Yes, it is the same thing. Just the case of the remotes are a little different. Well, my area dealers tried to use them but had horrible results. I am not sure if it was due to the product or their techs installing them. Now, I did try to install one of them on a new Powerstroke truck but it would never work right. The dealer got fed up and went back to what I have to offer them. :bananadie

make sure that if u buy it you can take it back because i got a 2000 explorer and i got the bulldog car starter.. it worked 2 times after i installed it and they where in the same day within a 5 min period, and it has never worked again.....it will ac like its gonna crank but it never turns over...the wiring is different then what they say.....like there are 4 constant power wires and they are all yellow...they say there only suppose to have 2...if you find the correct guide to the colors and it works for you let me know
