i have a 2000 explorer i want to add a after market remote sarter can sum1 please give me the wiring colours /// the truck also has power doorlocks .and do i have to purchase the autotheft bypass kit ?and what about the new remotes are they comptaible.... greatly appreciated

For DOME LIGHT SUPERVISION just use the DRIVERS DOOR YELLOW/BLACK (-).

You'll be sorry with the bulldog unit. Range is a 1/5 of what mine can do.

I am interested in having a Ford Remote Starter installed on my 2003 Ford Explorer. I have some concerns. One being that on my current key fob, there are 4 buttons, a lock button, unlock button, panic button and rear hatch release button. I see on Ford accessory web page, that the new key fobs that come with the remote starter system only have lock, unlock, panic and remote start buttons on them. I wonder if I would loose the ability to open the rear hatch remotely if I have this installed?? Also, my vehicle is equipped with some sort of alarm and keyless entry. It seems redundant to have to buy the most expensive remote starter kit. Do I only need to buy the one that has the remote start only or not? I would appreciate any help with this.

If you want a better unit for the money, look at the Valet 562t from DEI. If you need more than 500' range, look into something like Python's 1400xp which has a solid 1000'. They also have one that has a 2way remote that can do more than that. You can find a local dealer at www.directed.com Oh, they also have a 561t that patches into your keyless entry you have now but range will be real short.

Yes, it is the same thing. Just the case of the remotes are a little different. Well, my area dealers tried to use them but had horrible results. I am not sure if it was due to the product or their techs installing them. Now, I did try to install one of them on a new Powerstroke truck but it would never work right. The dealer got fed up and went back to what I have to offer them. :bananadie

make sure that if u buy it you can take it back because i got a 2000 explorer and i got the bulldog car starter.. it worked 2 times after i installed it and they where in the same day within a 5 min period, and it has never worked again.....it will ac like its gonna crank but it never turns over...the wiring is different then what they say.....like there are 4 constant power wires and they are all yellow...they say there only suppose to have 2...if you find the correct guide to the colors and it works for you let me know
