several stealth questions

hey everyone, it's a great forum you've got here! :smile:

i purchased a 95 dodge stealth (base model) a few months ago, and have generally enjoyed it. it's pretty quick, handles well, is in excellent condition, and looks great. (much better than my old 86 plymouth gran fury :iceslolan: )

tonight, i was out on the highway and decided to test my acceleration. it was pretty unscientific, using my friends analog watch as a timer, and not a perfectly flat road, but i pulled off to the side and started from there.
i got 0-60 in 10 seconds in "power" mode, and 11seconds in "eco" mode. is that normal?!
i spent the last hour looking everywhere, but the only information i could find pertains to the rt and tt models...

also, something of concern.
when i first went to test drive the car, i got it out and after driving it for a couple minutes, the engine idled so low that it would die if i didn't rev the engine. this problem was fixed by adjusting the idle, but now again my car is starting to idle lower (usually around 6.5-7, but sometimes it idiles normal...), and when i turn it on in the morning (i always allow it several moments to warm up before i go to work), it sounds *really* rough.

*edit* i should probably mention that it's an automatic transmission :(

Yeah, the times aren't out of line. Though I suspect it would be faster on the track. The time it takes to push buttons can make some difference.

Has the car been tuned up on schedule? Perhaps you got some moisture in the tank which'll give you a rough ride. A little dry gas every once in awhile isn't a bad thing.

so 10 seconds sounds about right then?
i'm not sure whether i should be disapointed that it's not supposed to do better, or relieved that that means there's nothing wrong with it...

as i only got the car several months ago, i'm not sure exactly what the previous owner did to it.
when i purchased it i had the tranny flushed, oil changed, changed the plugs/cap/rotor/wires, and plan on possibly putting in a cold air intake.

as far as the moisture in the tank, i wouldn't think that'd be it, as my rpms are actually lower than they should be in idle.
i origionally thought that the cable was being stretched, and every once in a while i'd need to adjust the idle screw, but now with it being rough in the morning (it's only done this recently), i'm wondering if it might not be something else...

I think you should be both relieved and i can see why u would be disappointed as well. Nothing wrong with the car is a great thing. You'd think they'd juice the base up a little more but oh well, that's there decision. You can always mod it up a bit.

For the DOHC its 6-7 seconds, the SOHC (base stealth) is slow as crap, no offense, i test drove one and they don't move when you hit the gas, at all, so i'm with yogs, 10 seconds sounds about right for the base model stealth (ES, RT, and RT/TT are DOHC if I remember correctly).

man, that's pretty darn dissapointing :(

why even make it with a dam sohc?! (the only reason that's what i got is because that's what was available)

dodge wanted a cheep car that looked just as good as their flagship car at the time. enter the base model sohc.
