I got a 1984 Chevy Cavalier with 83,000 miles on it and the car is in good condition. The car drives good for a while about 30 min or so and then turns off and if you turn the car off and start it again it starts right up but when you put it into a gear it turns off. If you leave the car sit for a while it will start right up and drive normal.

I took the car to the mechanic and told him what was wrong with the car. The mechanic had it over night and said that the car ran perfect and so i told him if you drive it for about 30 minutes it will shut off and so he will have it for another night.

Well if anyone has any suggestions on what may be the problem, please tell me soon!

Thank you.

Does it shudder/sputter when you slow down then die as you stop? If so unplug the TCC solenoid. It is on the tranny under the top radiator hose. These go bad a will not allow the torque converter to disengage.

Good Luck.
