Hey Guys!
Thanks for helping me with my remote problem.
I have a 98 maxima SE with automatic transmission. When I press on a gas above 30mph it does not respond right away and most of the time nothing happens until I press the pedal really hard. Its like there is a gap. I recently chaged air filter, oil, oil filter, spark plugs and gas filter. I have no idea what could possibly cause this. Please help
Thank you

Might want to check your ECU for ghost codes such as 0304 which is the knock sensor needing replacement.

I got it, its 0304 - knock sensor. I guess I will have to change it. Should I go to nissan center to run the tests or you suggest i should just buy the sensor and install it?

Just replace it. Get the part from www.jerryromenissan.com and use the promo code "MAXIMA"; should come out to $110-$120 shipped. Then, use the following tutorials to change it:

I have always wanted to know what are the sensors which unless they are dead completely you will not see a code in ECu.
I mean you could have one/some sensors with out of range readings however ECu is showing normal operation code.
I know throttle position sensor is one of them.
Does anybody know more.

first look at your ecm its under the dash in the center on the floor see if you see water marks on it.
the bulletin i was talking about is a nissan bulletin so its about 90% the problem

also check the voltage on the tps it should read between 0.42 - 0.48 volts you have to back probe the wires or just stop at the closest dealer a half hours labor should be all to tell you for sure 0

i've been to nissan schools and they say them selfs that the knock sensor helps alittle on the a/f ratio but your ecm has a set value inside of it so if the knock sensor were to malfunction that it isn't that important but this guys [rpoblem he can do what he wants its a free country but it is not his problem nissan has a tech bulletin that says for this problem he needs an ecm and if you can see the bulletins the number is ntb98-111a

Thank you all,
Since I already bought the knock sensor I will install it and if the problem persists I will think about changing my ecm.
Thank you again
