1992 SSEi is cutting out

I have a 1992 SSEi with 119k on it, bought it about 4 mo. ago and never have had any prob. until tonight, I was driving down the hwy at speed and went to pass a car and that's when I noticted the prob. It almost acts like the rev limiter in activating at around 2300 rpm, the engine will not go any faster than that. It will slowly build up speed (mph), but continues to cut out. It idles great, doesn't matter in the a/c is on or off, traction on/or off or anything else. Any input would be VERY much appreciated.

It sounds like you have a fuel problem probably with the fuel injectors. I had a V6 Cadillac that did the exact same thing. While it was in any other gear it would run fine but in high gear or when trying to pass cut out just like you are saying. Replaced all 6 injectors and the car ran super. Hope I'm wrong because this can get expensive. You may also want to check the fuel pressure, sometimes fuel pumps will act the same way!

Make sure youre using premium gas only, and new plugs and wires. this helped mine.
