my 1/4 mile time

i ran a [email protected], my 0-60 foot time was 1.830, I am launching my car at 6,000rpm.

Only mods i have done is 3 inch exhaust turbo back, ractive filter, 1g BOV, modified my upper intercooler piping for better flow and lower, and all the free mods yo can do. I do not have a boost control or gauge yet. I am working on them tho. Oh and this is on the stock turbo.T-25

I can get my step fathers camera and take a pic of my slips if any of you for some reason do not believe my time.

Actually that sounds about right.

Hell about 10 years back I ran a 13.1@100 with my 1992 TSI, mods were ONLY the following:

$3 fish tank valve.
$3 worth of vacuum lines.
$25 boost gauge (stock one is 100% usless)
$15 set NGK 1 step colder plugs
$45 K&N
$8 1 step cooler thermostat

Performed freebies:
block the EGR
Block TB coolant lines
Bump timing 4 degrees
Remove MAF lower honeycomb/star silencer
Hack off the air can horn/ cut open bottom of can.
remove boost control solinoid
If you have fog lights, remove the one blocking the I/C
Trim bigger holes in back of splash guard to allow I/C to have airflow over it

Now: install & dial in 17 psi with fishtank valve, run 93 octane gas. Good for 13.5's, lower yet if you run race gas, I ran a 13.1@100. My cost, less than $100.

13.99 or better NHRA requires a helmet...

1.8 60' on stock clutch is pretty damn good! How were you launching? Did you just slip the clutch out really fast from 6k? I usually launch at 5k/5.5k and slip it out fast and it feels pretty damn good, but I haven't been to the track to get my times yet.

After I get my exhaust on tomorrow, I'll have the same upgrades as you, plus a MBC and boost gauge. I only hope I can reach that kind of time when I go to the track! Nice job man! :)

6000 RPM? holy smokes, bet you fried your clutch to shit! awesome run though man!

Talon69
09-19-2004, 12:45 PM
actually i have run my car about 20 times now and 13.9 is my best so far, usually 14.0 consistant, um i usually hold my rpms about 3k and when the tree starts i jump the rpms up to 6k and dump the clutch, i dont slip it and my stock clutch is fine so far lol. Oh i forgot to tell you all, well since you see my 6k launch its obviuos lol i am AWD. I am going back to the track tuesday night and i am going to try to get my friends video camera to tape and post it for you all that would like to see it. I was running 14.4 consistant until i started playing with my shift points and got to 13.9 so far. Thanx for the replies guys i will keep you up dated. Gonna have my MBC and gauge the end of the month.

Oh i have a question, will 2 bad o2 sensors on my car hurt my time at all? I know the car runs rich with the front one bad.

10.5sec92AWDTALON
09-19-2004, 03:26 PM
It's probably fsater with the bad O2, LOL! 1.8's is good on a stock clutch, best I did was 1.72 on worn shit tires and stock clutch.

kjewer1
09-19-2004, 05:45 PM
The o2 sensors are ignored at WOT, and the LTFTs should be as well. So it shouldnt affect your times.

6000 RPM? holy smokes, bet you fried your clutch to shit! awesome run though man!

I'm not sure why you would say this. I've been launching at 5500 rpm with up to 16 psi on the stutterbox for the last 4 years, 6000 is not an uncommon launch rpm either. Sure, this will wear the clutch out more than if you drive the car like a pussy. But this is racing we are talking about. Doing it once or a few dozen times wont ruin the clutch unless it was already completely worn out, or if you slip it way too long like a bonehead ;)

Just to continue that thought, I used to get a full year out of an ACT2600 launching at 5500 rpm, about 15 psi on the stutterbox. Thats 35000 miles, over 200 track launches, and countless street launches. Lately I've been getting shorter life out them partly because of problems with tranny input shaft seals, and partly from increased power (and still full weight 2g). Just to give some more perspective on it.

I "launch" at 2000 RPM thinking im deshiznit dude, i cant launch for shit either, wheel hop scares the life outta me. it happens every time i launch so i just dont launch anymore. most races are from rolling stops so...oh and on the freeway, which is always fun unless theres a piggy involved.

I'd get about 20,000 miles and 70-100 or so track launches out of it. I'd launch at about 5600 no stutterbox.

I got real good at swapping friction discs! Glad ACT sells em seperate, not like Centerforce, them dicks won't sell a friction disc, you have to buy the plate too.

one quick question, What is the weather like up there when you ran these times. I live in louisiana and it is hot and humid like dog piss down here. I really need to go up north to a track.

Try getting traction in 40 degree temps though. Good for power, bad for traction.
