Here is what I think what will be my completed system...I am still open to any suggestions though (except for the speaker amp still deciding)

Sub: RE 12" X.X.X Ported box tuned at 30hz
Sub Amp: JBL BP1200.1
Speakers: Front- Infinity Kappa 6.1 components (Still looking*)
Rear- Infinity Kappa refernce 63.5i coaxils(Do these have good midbass?)
Speaker amp- Unsure, something about 450.4 <300$
HU: Pioneer DEH-9600MP
Dynamat/Cheap Alternative as needed

Just wanted to see everyones thoughts on this set up for a 60/40 sq/spl user. Also guesses at what you think its total cost will be. Thanks guys!

* I'm also cosidering CDT Eurosports with an upstage kit, JL XR components, or Focal 165KP components <---All more expensive than the infinity's :cwm27:

I think you're spending too much money on the substage and not enough on the front stage

Since it appears you're going for more SQ than SPL, the front stage is really where most of your money should be spent. Also, midbass and infinity should never be used in the same sentence.

Yeah, your front stage will deffinently be overpowered by by your substage. IMO infinity's tweeters are WAY too harsh. I am speaking mainly of the Kappa series because thats what I had. I would deffinently go with the CDT Eurosports with upstage kit over Infiinty's any day. CDT is great for Components. I'm not quite sure what you mean by Infinity Kappa reference 63.5i. Infinity makes a Reference line and a Kappa line. If I were you I wouldn't want or expect midbass from your rear speakers, I also wouldn't amp them. If they are too loud or too powerful they will ruin your front stage imaging. For an amp for the front components look at HiFonics. They have quality stuff and if you don't mind buying from unauthorized they are really cheap from www.ikesound.com. Just my 2 cents.

I think you guys are right about the speaker set up but since I am very often having people in my back seats I need to set a good sound stage for them as well. So what set up should be used to create a excellent soundstage for myself ( I like the sound of speakers that are very full but also very lively) but yet have a good audio experience for the rear passengers, I'm open for suggestions.

I can spend about 500-600 dollars on all the speakers and the amp to power them.

I'm also looking for speakers with strong midbass in the rears.

Thanks for any help!

Actually make that that 800 dollars max on the speakers and amp...yay for paychecks!

I would run cdt coaxials in the rear, and have cdt comps in the front. I have never had anyone in the back complain about the music even though it is all in front...

Adire Koda 6.1 in the front (if you can fit them that is), Focal Access 165CA in the rear, leave the rears on the headunit and get a good 100-125x2 amp for the kodas. You have around $300 for this, so you can get some very nice stuff. High end Phoenix Gold, JL 300/2, low level Arc or Audison, maybe even a Zapco.

Kodas (http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/products/speakers/car_audio/adire_koda_6-1_component.shtml) - $350
Focals (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18799&item=5721215551&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) - $130

edit: crap I forgot, take it down a few notches on the amp and get some deadening for the front doors, around 30sqft should do it.

No go on the Adires  they're way too deep for the shallow mounting depth in my Acura. I've been looking around and was wondering what you thought of these for the front fill speakers, they're made for shallow mountings? I think I'm going to go with the focal rears that sr20 recommended for the rears.

Thanks for the help guys...

PS: Anyone know of high quality installation places in the area of NY/Long Island/CT?

how deep can you fit in the front doors? Any chance you can make some mdf spacers?

Those focal polyglass slims aren't worth nearly that much money, I spent $210 on my polyglass components and I barely even think they were worth that. You can do much better for the money, but unfortunately most of those other choices are pretty deep.

I could use spacers but even still I don't think I would be able to keep a stock look from the interior with those Adires...they're pretty diesel and need 3 inches of mounting. I've been looking around and there are several other components with a smaller mounting depth of 3" like the Adire's. I was wondering if you could recommend any others. Also how do the ones below look?

Thoughts on the JL XR components...

lets see, diamond hex's and mb quarts have notoriously bright tweets but good midrange, screw the fosgates, bostons and cdts are supposed to sound pretty natural, but I don't have any personal experience

the JL XRs have good tweets, but the midbass isn't exactly all that great, from what I hear it's pretty comparable to the focal polyglass, which IMO kinda sucked.

I like the Diamonds. Don't like the JLs. Bostons are not good for me. Those cdts are way too costly. Try www.thezeb.com . RF comps just plain suck. I heard the highend mbquarts the other day. My CDT ef61cfs sound just as good if not better :).

So it sounds as if it's between the CDTs, MB Quarts and the Diamonds...I'm gonna check these out soon get a hear for which ones I like the best.

Any thoughts about which of these would mix best with the focal rear fills to maintain a good sound stage and blend?

oxymoron

the CDT's are very accurate .... the focals are more open in the midrange .... bostons are really good too. Those are the 3 components I have had. I always use dedicated midbass or mount smaller subs in the doors.

Do you happen to know the mounting depth of those cdt's you have? I found a good deal on them and was wondering if you could remember the depth off the top of your head.

<3 Haibane...Do you like your speakers in terms of clarity, mid range and accuracy?

Haibane

yes. Why would I suggest something I don't like?
