The BRETHERN and the MOTHER TRUCKERS UNITE.

This is speaking from owning (4) modified 4x4 and living through the does and should not have's.:lol2:

One experienced mechanic just told me that rebuilding a rear-end is sometimes more complex than an engine and that he would never do it. :eek7:

I wanted to do the same thing you do now.

My very experienced mechanic stated this, "If you wish to change the gearing, you must send your rear-end to a rear end specialist who only does rear ends every day, not some 4x4 parts shop who may do a couple a year."

Some are put together too tight, which cuases a vibration, others too loose, just like a doctor, take it to a specialist who does boob jobs everyday.:naughty:

There are many regular people who know how to set gears. I've done it in a parking lot before and it still came out near perfect (and it's been nearly a year).

I would think somewhere between 4.10 and 4.88'ish would bring the RPM's back closer to the stock range. You could go even lower if you would like.
