D15A2 Timing question

Can anyone tell me if the D15A2 engine is a 'freewheeling' valvetrain ie if the timing belt breaks will the valves clear the pistons or smash it all up inside? My timing belt snapped but I never heard any kind of unusual noises from metal smashing together, and when I looked at the cam sprocket it's very close to the timing marks for #1 TDC so maybe the valves just happened to be closed when it broke...

hondas are interference engines, meaning the valves have the opportunity to hit the pistons should the timing belt break. its really a 50/50 chance. I've seen 3 different people break tiing belts with no problems, and i've also seen 2 other people break timing belt and bend like 8 valves.
