Metro GTA 1995

Hello guys

First time so be gentle! ;o)

I have a rover metro GTA. A great little car however I have a problem which is beginning to give me ear ache! When i get it into 4th gear a high pitched whinning starts coming from the engine whenever i put my foot on the accelarator. the moment i take my foot off it stops. the problem gets much louder in 5th gear.

Im hoping their is simply solution to this problem but it has got me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, if it happens at only high speed, sounds like you have a tranny problem. Most likely the input shaft bearing. They have a tendancy to fail because they are under-sized.
