2002 ford explorer

my 2002 ford explorer gas gauge when my gas gets to about half full. the check gauge light come on when it falls below one half,any thoughts would be appreciated

Fill tank every time light comes on.
That way, if you get bad gas, you will only
get half a tank.

I had this happen once and I did a reset and all was well. Have you tried this?
