I'm gonna be visiting my Fiance in Dresden (about 2 hours away from Berlin) on March 2 and I'm just wondering, exactly what is there to see for a car enthusiast like myself there? :)
And do atleast some ppl speak english over there? Just wondering.

Most of the people (especially the younger ones in east germany) should be able to speak english there though. Please let me know how you liked it there if youīre back!:)

Well hey thanx for the reply tho :) Makes me feel a little bit better. From what I've heard from my girl, I'm not expecting much. She's seen ONE "hooked up" car while she's been there (It had the moulding painted a different color). But I'm not expecting to see the filming of "Getaway in Stockholm 3" but you know, a sanctioned racing event or car show would've been cool. :)
BTW with BMW's and Mercedes being "domestics" over there, does that mean you can rent them cheap? :D

Wtf is a 'moulding'???
Well, march the 2. is a saturday if i remember right. It shouldnt be a problem to find some car meetings- ill look at my resources for u ;)
Yeah, Dresden is about 120km away from me so it should be done in a 45min sprint, maybe my friend is driving to his girl who lives there we could meet. But I cant say this for sure right now.
Ull rarely find Hondas there- most cars ull find are tuned VW Golfs and Opels- too much of them :(
Hehe no they arent cheap to rent- I think u want to rent a bigger one eh? This will get expensive for u, very expensive! Ill also have a look at this, do u prefer a special one?

Actually that weekend of the 2nd and 3rd, I'll be in Berlin cause that's where the airport is. But I'll be dresden after that until the next week end. And I don't mind VW's and such. That's what I want to see. I want to see what the local car scene is into, stuff like that. And naa, I was just checking on the Mercs and such, It'll still be too expensive for me anyways. But thanx tho.

Yep they will stop u if u drive all the time not very fast on the left lane, but the penalty isnt very high for this thing- it willbe much higher for speeding in working areas :)

Well if you are on the Autobahn arround Berlin you might get passed by one of the cars that will be featured in GiS3 we will be going through Germany to a secret location for a test drive after rebuilding all winter :)
To se the making of GiS3 I think you'll have to go a bit further north!

My advise while driving in Germany? When ther're no limit go for it! If the is a speed limit... drive no faster than 10km/h over the limit. Autobahn Police can really catch you if you're breaking the law. Especially they are very strickt in former East Germany.
I got a speed ticket for driving 180 on the 130 Autobahn Berlin-Munich.
430 German Marks plus problems with cops that wanted to confiscate my driving licence and so on! Luckly I said I'm "poor polish guy" (driving highly tuned Accord Coupe at that time hehe) and they let me go after paing 350 DM in cash. But later I had to transfer the rest of the money from home and send them my driving licence for a month! Otherwise, they told me I will go to JAIL if I'll not do that next time I go to Germany! Damn m/f's!
So be carefull!

No no accidents if we did get into one we would stop making the movies because it is not worth that.
The drivers are proffesionals with many racing titles and great driving experience and we try to keep as good safety margins as possible. We always scout ahead and know exactly which route to take. We are aware of the risks but if the movies were totaly without risk nobody would buy them.

Well, the vids are nice, no doubt about that. But I dont get the point, what is cool to drive with a more than 300hp sports car with about 150kph through a city??? Maybe, the drivers are professionals but I think the risk that some little thing is going wrong is higher than high. If some of u guys would crash into my friends car or into someone I know, I would simply pull out the gun....
Btw, how long is the braking distance when u drive 200kph, eh? What does it need when ur drivers are professionals(what kind of professionals?!?!- if i would be a professional I would see that the risk is much too high!) and a child is running 40meters away from u on the street?!
But maybe im the only one who thinks like this....

Well as I wrote earlier we are aware of the risks and yes we know that there is a great braking distance. I also wrote that we try to minimize the risks and drive when there is less traffic on the streets.
I think that the risks of a child running into the street at 5am in the morning is minimal, the risk of hitting a child is probably greater at 1pm when driving 45mph.
The drivers have svereal championship titles (I am not talking some mickey mouse race).
I still bet that it is safer than when som high school drive go home after a night of partying. I know that there is a lot of ifs but we are not saying that there is no risk with this.

Which is the best magazine for tuning, styling, street racing in germany? Uhm,....Iīd say "Tuning" for the younger people and "Auto, Motor, Sport" in general. "Auto, Motor, Sport" will be bought by adults most of the time but it has got a lot of tests about exclusive cars like Porsche, Ferrari, Mitsubishi Evo (yes, itīs a very exclusive car over here!),... so it might be interesting, too!
Their e-mail adresses are: [email protected] for "Tuning" and the link for "Auto,..." is www.auto.t-online.de !! Good luck!

Hmm...I'll risk leaking info and do some armchair thinking here. The same make as the previous RWD's. Considering you were asking where and who can get your 911 to the 10's on the street tires, I'll assume an even more highly modded 911 Turbo. And the I believe the Cosworth was AWD but we poor souls don't get the damn car in the US so I couldn't tell you. But you guys seemed to like it alot.

Am I close? :D

Oh sorry, misunderstood. Damn then being that your in Europe, the possiblities are many if you have $$$. It would really have to depend on if the AWD system was stock or an add on (possibly OE from the same or another manufactuer) but....
My final guess for the manufactuer would be Nissan and if not then it has to be Mitsubishi. It has to be one of those :) If it is, then the choice of cars would be easy.

Getaway, do you make an agreement with the cops if you do something like this, or is it completely illegal?
