starter then blinker problems today

I have a 2004 Malibu Maxx LT. In the last month the vehicle has twice shown ignition problems. It seems the ignition runs for one to two seconds pass engine on. Today, the right turn signal indicator in the dashboard began blinking twice as fast as the left. I checked outside the car and the front passenger-side turn signal is not working. The rear passenger-side does work. And the driver's side both work. Has anyone encountered this problem?

That would be a lightbulb out. As far as the ignition issue, I am not sure what the problem is that you are having.

I have done a visual inspection again this morning. And I still can see clearly that the filament is not affected. It is not broken. I am certain it is not the lamp itself, but some computer controlled issue. As far as the ignition overrun, this too is most likely a computer-controlled malfunction as some of the other threads indicate.

I have already contacted Bob Stall Chevrolet where I bought my 2004 Maxx, and I will bring it in on Tuesday Sept. 21, 2004.

Hi,
I guess your turn signal prob might be wiring related (short to ground or open circuit) or still could be a bulb socket problem at the lamp itself. The double-flash rate is what is supposed to happen when a bulb is not working.

With the ignition problem, I can't really follow what you are describing. Do you mean that the starter is still cranking after the engine has started?

Thanks,

Although the filaments are clearly visible, it does appear to be the lamp. Tomorrow 9/21/04 I'll find out when I take my car to the dealer. As far as the ignition problem...
Yes. It is as if the key sticks in the ignition. So, for a second or two the engine continues to be "started". I've read some other posts which have talked about this anomaly.
