Polished HX rims! (pics)

These are my old rims, I used to have them factory color, then black with a silver lip, now they are polished! GSR style! What do you guys think? The paint has been stripped to the bare aluminum surface with a can of Aircraft paint remover. Good stuff!

the tires are P195 60R 14, Yea I agree, they are pretty beefy as hell, it's just that they are pretty new with alot of tread left.

HX rims are awesome.. I love 14" rims on Hondas. I love mine, but if I didn't have them I'd really want to go to the states and get some HX rims.

I like them all most as much as mine... But for some reason or another, mine have grown on me. People all the time tell me I need to get better rims. I just laugh and shake my head.

People hate on my 14s relativley often also, but I can't imagine a better wheel size for my application. They're not as flashy to look at, but thats part of what I like about them.

yea 12 lbs. and vx rims are 13's, 9 lbs, and do look similar to a hx rims but not exactly alike.

Thats exactly how they look like right after the paint gets stripped off, you can see the actual "forging" marks on the rim from the machine at the factory. No polish has been applied to the rims.

Those look great, but they'd look alot better on a 4th gen... :thefinger

Is clearcoat needed since the rims are what I believe an aluminum alloy? I don't think they can rust..Anyone know?

they wont rust but will oxidize...ever seen GSR rims on a 94 or so...they oxidize pretty bad once the clearcoat starts to peel

Ya, they'll definatley corrode and your tires could start to lose air.

Get them powder-coated chrome (or gunmetal or black or whatever)... would probably cost you about $150.

Tires were on the rims, just try not to get too much of the aircraft remover on the tires, some got on the tires and nothing happened to them.

alright, well, i have shit tires on them anyways, and i'm gonna be using some industrial strength paint remover to get it all off anyways :) should be a fun project when i get time hehe
